“Riversdal Saagmuele, is a 100-year-old sawmill, originally processing raw lumber from Gacia plantation, to then feed the local communities and enterprises. This lumber then used to go to the old “Handelshuis” furniture manufacturer in the town which then retailed through their retail outlets. This however slowly diminished over the years. All that is left of this backbone in Riversdale’s working community is the plantation and sawmill. The previous manager and owners have all moved on, and what is left is the mill with 70 staff, some staff whom have been working there for over 30 years and more. The mill is now owned and managed under the leadership of Leeroy Deane who has innovated the mill from originally processing raw lumber and now moved onto more modern methods of timber processing and manufacturing. Riversdal Saagmuele now offer a range of timber products, from softwoods to hardwoods, as well as building materials.
